Sagra di San Giovanni:
June 2007, the event of the month… Sagra di San Giovanni: The historical commemoration of the Naval Battle of Lario with a majestic fireworks
show.
During the entire week of June 24, the celebration of San Giovanni will organize
shows, entertainment, theatre, music and food celebrations in the in the towns
of the Zoca de L’Oli.
Saturday June 23rd will be an unforgettable evening with the Commemoration of
the Historical Naval Battle of 1169 between Redbeard’s allies from Como against
the residents of the Island of Comacina.
For years, tourists from around the world have been attending the event. Centrohotels
invites you to not miss this pyrotechnical event with thousands of soaring lights
and a simulation of the burning of the Island of Comacina.
Sunday the 24th. The relics of the “martiri della Pieve di Isola” will be brought back to the
island for a day with a solemn procession in traditional clothing of the time
aboard antique lake boats, the Lariane Gondolas. Mass will be held on the island
among the reminiscent Romanesque ruins of the Basilica di Sant’Eufemia, the cradle
of Comacino Christianity. In the afternoon, the Regata delle Lucie will leave
from Ossuccio to Sala Comacina.
The event will be held in Sala Comacina on the 23rd and 24th of June 2007, and
it will be just the first of a long series of events to light up the summer season
on Lago di Como.
