HOW TO REACH VARENNA

Varenna is a small town on the east side of the lake of Como, on the railroad line from Milan to Sondrio. It can be reached by train from Milan in approximately one hour.

If you arrive by plane at either Linate or Malpensa Airport you should take the airport bus
to Milano Stazione Centrale. If you arrive at Linate you are advised to buy your train ticket at the Trenitalia Office airport ticket office (ground floor, arrival Lounge).

Buses from Linate: leave every 30 minutes from 6:10 a.m. until 23:30 p.m. The ride to the station takes approximately 20 minutes and you can buy the ticket on the bus (Euro 4,00 per person).

Buses from Malpensa: leave every 20 minutes, 24 hours and takes about one hour. You can buy the ticket on the bus at Euro 7,00 per person.

By train: The ticket office at the Milano Centrale Railway Station is on the ground level, while the platforms are on the upper level. After you have bought your ticket remember to punch it in one of the yellow punching machines before going on to the platform. To find the trains to Varenna look for the trains bound to Sondrio-Tirano, they stop in Varenna.

HOW TO REACH VARENNA BY CAR FROM AIRPORT

From Linate airport: take "TANGENZIALE EST" following the sign A4 VENEZIA. Drive for about 10 km and take the exit direction TANGENZIALE NORD - E64 - A4. Continue for approximately 6 km and take the exit SS36 LECCO/MONZA.

Once in Lecco follow the sign to SONDRIO - VALTELLINA, still SS 36, and take the first gate on the right to MANDELLO DEL LARIO - ABBADIA LARIANA - VARENNA.

Drive for about 15 km and you will reach Varenna.

From Malpensa airport: take the highway A8 direction MILAN and continue until the exit of VIALE CERTOSA. Here you enter in the highway A4 direction MONZA, take the exit CINISELLO BALSAMO to the SS36 direction LECCO - SONDRIO. Once in LECCO continue as above indicated.
